MANISTEE, MICHIGAN – The absence of affordable housing is a significant quality of life and economic development priority for Manistee County. This is reflected in the recently adopted Strategic Plan for Manistee County by the County Board of Commissioners, the City of Manistee’s Strategic Plan Update, and the Lakes to Land Regional Initiative process involving 16 governmental agencies.
Several steps to respond to this shared priority will be the focus of a public meeting led by Networks Northwest on November 12 , 2014 from 9-11 a.m. at the Education Center at West Shore Medical Center at 1465 E. Parkdale Ave.
The meeting will include:
- A presentation on results and recommendations of a Manistee County housing target market analysis. This study identifies local housing demand based on differing populations. The presentation will be made by LandUse USA that recently completed a market analysis for the Filer Township Downtown Development Authority.
- Discussion about builder and developer needs, barriers and potential resources to support development.
- Local and regional housing strategies, including a discussion of next steps for Manistee County.
“Whether you’re a county commissioner, member of local governing body or planning commission, realtor, developer or a business, school or nonprofit leader, we hope you’ll join us on November 12 and participate in a call to action that will be of immense benefit to Manistee County and the region,” said Regional Planning Dept. Manager Sarah Lucas.
Due to anticipated demand, RSVPs are requested by Sarah Lucas by contacting her at sarahlucas@nwm.cog.mi.us or 231-929-5034.
For those of us who will be working and unable to attend will the meeting be recorded and an opportunity made to make comments online?
Also will the issue of creating a Land Bank be discussed?
