Somebody had to be first, and it’s Crystal Lake Township!
This beautiful community with two majestic shorelines has become the first of the nine Lakes to Land communities writing master plans to complete the entire process. At its public hearing last night, May 21, the Crystal Lake Township Planning Commission passed a resolution adopting the Crystal Lake Township Master Plan. Everyone in the collaboration wishes them the biggest and heartiest of
The word on the street is that it was not only done first, but in style: The 45-minute meeting included presentations from each member of the planning commission, delivered to a full house of supportive community members. Citizens complimented the planning commission on a thorough, readable document that clearly expressed an exciting vision for their future. “It was so beautiful you could have set it to music,” said Lakes to Land planner and Crystal Lake Township zoning administrator Tamara Buswinka.
This moment has been more than two years in the making, and we can’t say enough about all the hard work that has gone on in that time. In particular, the collaborative team would like to thank Crystal Lake Township citizen Monica Schultz for volunteering to co-chair the Leadership Team, and planning commissioner Sharron May for recording the minutes of every single monthly meeting during that time.
And there’s much more excitement to come! Gilmore Township, Joyfield Township, the Villages of Honor and Bear Lake, Blaine Township, and Arcadia Township have all scheduled public hearings over the next several weeks, and Bear Lake Township and Pleasanton Township are expected to follow suit soon. Details are and will be posted on the calendar – please consider dropping in to share in their celebrations, too!
