The Lakes to Land initiative is taking collaboration seriously.

Recognizing the benefits of partnership, consistency, shared resources, and a view of the Northwestern Michigan region as a whole, a unique joint planning effort has been initiated among the townships of Arcadia, Blaine, Crystal Lake, Gilmore, Bear Lake, Joyfield, and Pleasanton, along with the Onekama Community and the City of Frankfort. These communities will work together to prepare a series of individual Master Plans that will be used to design collaborative Implementation Strategies. The process is aimed at bringing together voices throughout the region and translating them into policies and actions that create a better quality of life for all residents and visitors.

A joint planning initiative of this size is the first of its kind in Michigan, making it both unique and noteworthy.
